Walk With You

Walk With You

People often come to this work through grief, but we may also work with the life that grief has touched.

Savorism Coaching

Private coaching for what’s alive, what’s ending, or what’s unclear.

Some seasons of life ask for presence, language, care, discernment, and a slower kind of attention to what is actually happening.

Savorism is the practice of slowing down with intention, especially after life has brought you to your knees. It’s for the ones who’ve reached a moment, or a season, where the only way forward is by pausing. For real. And on purpose.

A warm, textured scene from Akilah S. Richards’ immersive Savorism work

Rushing is no longer an option.

A Savorist is someone whose life experiences have made it clear: rushing is no longer an option. To move with care, they must learn to acknowledge harm, both received and caused, detangle and deschool from what no longer fits, and notice or make connections that restore wholeness.

Savorism is about sitting with what aches, tending to what’s shifting, and letting what’s done… be done.

In this space, we don’t rush healing or chase clarity. We stay. We witness. We werk with and through. We honor with discernment. And we let shit go.

Monica R., California: "I have gained so much insight just by expressing myself and hearing myself reflected in your witnessing of me. I feel progress in the areas of pace, creation, and permission and know that this is a result of our sessions together. Even before and during coaching, your voice, perspective and presence has had a massive impact on my life. I often hear your voice and speak of you as if you are an auntie, a sister - and most certainly a wise woman and sage."

How this works.

You bring what’s alive, what’s ending, or what’s unclear. I bring presence, tools, and language that help you sit with it, shape it, or surrender it.

This is not therapy. It is private coaching and grieftending support for people who want to be met with care, honesty, and specific-to-you structure.

Sometimes the entry point is a death. Sometimes it is another type of death that has nothing to do with a biological death.

Partnerships end. Jobs end. Places stop feeling like home. Roles expire. Dreams stop fitting. A version of you changes, and everybody around you may still be relating to the version that had to die.

This is where we tend, not necessarily solve.

The grief may be the doorway, but it may not be the whole room.

You may come here because someone important to you died. You may come because a birthday, anniversary, body change, parenting shift, relationship ending, creative threshold, caregiving aftermath, or old identity has brought something up that you can’t keep working around.

You may also come because you’ve outgrown the way you’ve been living, personally or business-wise, but haven’t yet figured out what the new way is.

You may be tending to your relationships differently now, especially the one with yourself. You may be unlearning roles that once made you feel useful but now make you feel trapped. You may want to move with more sovereignty, less performance, and more trust in what your life is asking of you now.

This is one of the ways we practice moving from griefstruck to grieftending. We do this by paying attention to what grief has touched, what it has changed, what it has clarified, and what kind of care or release might be needed now.

Kristina J., California: "I’m feeling all the feels as I reflect on our journey together. Everything that rippled out as a result of us sitting together over the past year - the safety, shedding, joy and education, I’m grateful for all of it and forever changed. As the sun sets on this [part of our] walk, I’ll remember this season fondly while looking forward to where the next path leads. I just wanted to say that I’m honored and thank you for taking the time to craft such a plan that would profoundly impact me and my daughter!"

How it begins

You start with the coaching inquiry form.

Share what is bringing you here, what kind of support you are curious about, and what feels most alive, unclear, or ready to be tended.

I’ll read what you share and respond with the best next step. That may be one private session, a short coaching container, or another offering that fits what you are carrying.

This is a way for us to begin with a little more care.

What we may work with

We may work with grief that feels obvious, and grief that has been hiding inside your pace, your choices, your relationships, your body, your creativity, or the way you keep trying to be okay.

We may work with a project that keeps pressing against your chest, a daily life that no longer fits your core values, a transition that needs more honesty than urgency, or a version of yourself you are ready to stop dragging into every room.

We may work with how you want to live now.

Not someday. Not when everything makes sense. Now, with the truth you have access to, and with enough support to stop treating your own life like something you have to figure out alone.

Kate T., Michigan: There is nothing quite like a savor session with Akilah. What a gift to spend an hour with someone who listens so intently who possesses such a deep desire to understand. It is a time and space dedicated solely to being in the moment, allowing, and getting curious. I am a person who has been in different therapy and coaching sessions, and this work is completely different. Savoring (as I’m continuing to understand) is not solely about healing or propulsion; rather, savoring asks us to investigate in order to allow more of our fuller, more authentic selves to emerge. This is a ‘come as you are’ space, where all parts of me are accepted and welcomed. Everything has a place and ‘fits’ into our sessions, even if it’s not something I had the intention of mentioning. Somehow, through deep conversation, periods of pause, and (sometimes uncontrollable) laughter, we find a way to expose truths and find connections of all kinds. Savor coaching with Akilah is transformative work; I could not be more grateful for her presence and wisdom.
